*This is just a list of possible choices and is subject to change...(lol)! These are all books that I will most likely being using in the near future with my daughters and this is why they are on this list. If there are any book requests you would like to make, please leave a comment on the home page. I will be trying to go back and add Book Notes for earlier years, but my focus will be to work on the ones I need as well. I will then post them as they are ready.

Books I've started, but that need more work:

  • Myths of the World
  • A Child's History of the World
  • Our Island Story
  • English Literature for Boys and Girls
  • Ivanhoe
  • History of Art for Young People
  • Science Matters: Achieving Scientific Literacy
  • Plutarch's Lives for Boys and Girls
  • The Discoverers
  • Children of the New Forest
  • The Wind in the Willows
  • Tales From Shakespeare
  • George Washington's World
  • The Wonders of Physics: An Introduction to the Physical World
  • Age of Fable
  • Who Was First? Discovering the Americas
  • Book of the Ancient Romans by Dorothy Mills
  • The New Americans: Colonial Times by Betsy and Giulio Maestro

I've started with Our Island Story and A Child's History of the World, but I will be starting both of these books with the chapters my younger daughter is reading now. This means these book notes will start in the middle and then will be finished. If I have time over the next year, I will try to go back and add in the chapters from the beginning.

As I work on other books, I'll try to add those too. This is such a work in progress and is truly very time consuming so I hope that you find this helpful and will not mind being patient.

I have considered putting all of this together in print form at some point in the future, but for now it is too much for me to handle right now.

I hope this is helpful. It is helpful to me since my preparing it is also preparation for me, my girls and our lessons!

A Child's History of the World by Hillyer

The links below will give you a download for all of the Book Notes for A Child's History of the World in one set. It is divided into Years 1, 2 and 3 which corresponds to Ancients, Medieval and Modern respectively.

CHOW Year One
CHOW-Year Two
CHOW Year Three
CHOW Year Three B

Note: I've combined the book notes for Year Three, but I haven't yet written all of the Book Notes for Year Two. Because of this, I have included CHOW Year Three and Three B without page numbers. As soon as I have the middle section written (and know the page numbers for it), I can insert the page numbers for Year Three. Once these are complete, you will be able to print all three years and they will be numbered as a set for the entire book.
